Bird photography made easy. You can capture wild life up close without expensive telephoto lenses. Just setup your camera and the sensor. The timer will take the pictures for you.

For this picture I used the following components:

  • Camera and flash.
  • Universal Photo Timer with IR Extension Cable.
  • Infrared Beam Sensor.
  • Bird seeds.

The Infrared Beam Sensor was positioned approximately 2 meters away from the bird seeds. It was placed so that when a bird lands on the bird feeder, the sensor is triggered activating the camera shutter. The timer can take a single picture or series of pictures whenever something trips the sensor.

The Infrared Beam Sensor is capable of detecting many objects some as small as a bee or a hummingbird.

The camera lens was pre-focused. When the bee and the hummingbird passed through the beam, the timer activated the camera.
